What defines a custom home: Any home not built by a production builder; custom homes are not cookie cutters; generally no two alike. The Northeast Mesa uplands are full of custom quality homes from old to new construction.
You will find custom homes mostly on larger lots such as half acre or an acre plus. However, some of the master planned communities in the area such as Red Mountain Ranch and Las Sendas have entire subdivisions within their planned community that are made up of custom homes on a variety of lot sizes.
Custom homes can be found within the city limits of Mesa but also in the county which is commonly referred to as a 'county island'. County properties typically have septic systems rather than city sewer and many times on well water rather than city water. County properties generally mean no HOA (homeowner associations).
